The Definite Article

In Hebrew, 'the' is a prefix — the letter ה (ha) attached directly to the front of a noun.

Adding הַ to a Noun

Attach הַ directly to the noun. No separate word needed. Tap a noun to stamp הַ on — tap again to peel it off.

Stamp or skip?

Hebrew has no word for “a.” Stamp הַ only when English would say “the.”

  • the dog
  • a book
